How We Work
- Contact. We will work via email and telephone and do not require a face to face consultation. Email is our preferred method of contact as it allows us to provide a written trail of all communications and to reply out of office hours
- Website Design. The website layout will be based on the clients choice of template. We will provide up to 20 stock images for the client to select to use on the pages. We will create a custom banner and brand the website using background colours, font colours and font types.
- Content. It is the clients' responsibility to provide all content for the website. Ideally the content should be provided as a word document with no more than one page per website page. The content will be pre-loaded on the website if received no later than 4 weeks from the date of purchase. If the content is received later than 4 weeks after purchase, the client will have the opportunity to upload content via SMART at their leisure. Any specific images required must also be provided on a disk (not returnable) to our registered address.
- Ownership. We grant the client non-exclusive use of all material created and designed by us for use in the web site created by us under this contract.
- Link to us. The B Websites link must remain in the footer area of the client's web site.
- Portfolio. We reserve the right to feature your website on our portfolio as displayed on our website. This is good for you since we will also provide a link through to your live website.
- Payment. We request full payment in advance for all websites purchased.
Website Package
Unless otherwise negotiated, website packages include the following
- Pages. A maximum number or 5 pages.
- Design Time. A Maximum of 3 hours design time for the bespoke banner and branding.
- Images. A maximum of 50 images per website and 30 per page. We will upload up to 50 images per website, if provided on disk within 4 weeks of purchase and in a suitable format.
- Logo design is NOT included in the website package. Logo design can be added for an additional fee.
- Support. Email support is provided for the lifetime of your website - we aim to acknowledge queries same working day.
- Webstats from Google Analytics is included.
- Registration with the top 10 search engines.
- 1 .co.uk domain name. Additional domains requested will be charged at £10 each/year.
- Emails. A maximum of 5 email addresses.
- Free Annual Review. All budget websites will be entitled to an annual review, which will include checking that the website is compatible with any new browsers and suggestion for improvement.
Search Engine Optimisation
The website will be written in compliant and valid code making the websites search engine friendly. The SMART content management system will allow the client full control over all aspects of your website, including those elements required for SEO. Budget Websites will provide you with support and information about how to optimise your website, including newsletters, help within SMART and email support. Additional SEO packages are available at an additional cost.
The website will be submitted to the search engines, however this does not guarantee a particular ranking in the search results. If the clients requires a high ranking then we advice that you either a) follow our DIY seo advice or 2) purchase a SEO package. Note - no company can guarantee a high position on google.
Domain Transfers
If the client already holds a domain we will need full details to link the domain to the hosting. A fee of £20 will be levied to cover our time. If the details supplied by the client are not correct then an alternative domain will be selected by Budget Websites and the client will need to contact their provider to link the domains.
There will be a fee of £40 for transferring a .com or .net domain away from the Budget Web Sites Ltd service provider.
Additional Costs
After the first year there will be a charge £60/year for hosting the website and £60/year if the client would like continued access to the SMART content management system (update tool)
Cancellation Rights
You have a right to cancel your order. In the event of cancellation you will be invoiced for the cost of the work carried out so far based on our hourly rate. If no work was completed, you will not be charged.
Go Live
Once the website has been made live, please spend some time checking that everything is working correctly.
This checklist is for your guidance.
- Are all your emails working correctly - send some test emails.
- Check that the contact us forms on the website send emails to the correct address and that you are receiving them. The contact us email address can easily be updated from within your SMART login.
- Check all pages display correctly.
- Are all telephone number, emails and address on the website correct.
- If relevant are your vat and company details displayed in the footer.
- Check for typos and spelling mistakes.
- Is your analytics account picking up the user stats correctly? This can take a few days to start working.
- You should check to see if your website is being indexed by google. This can take a number of weeks. You can check by entering your full website URL into the google search and checking that the results do point to your website.
Whilst we endeavor to ensure that everything is as requested, it is the client's responsibility to check and inform us of any errors as soon as possible. Fixes requested after 4 weeks will be charged at the standard hourly rate. In most cases any changes can be made by the client using SMART.
